Discover Islamic China

Travel with Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi to China, and experience a journey to one of the most historic and ancient civilizations in the world!

Daily lectures, guided historical tours with locals, halal breakfast and dinners, one-on-one sessions with the Shaykh, great company and opportunities for worship - what more can one ask for?!

Islam in China has an illustrious history dating to the seventh century CE.  Notable Companions visited and established links with what eventually became communities of Muslims in China. The first mosques were built in the Tang Dynasty, and date back to the era of the Companions themselves. Hence, some of the world's oldest mosques are actually in China.

Come and walk on the Great Wall of China, shop in Bazaars along the Silk Route, visit historic Mosques in multiple cities, and be inspired by Muslims living out their faith in the farthest regions of the world. Our tours explore ancient historical sites while highlighting the Islamic contribution to Chinese culture and history. Coupled with daily lectures by Sh. Yasir, this tour is an ideal way for Muslims to explore and learn about this fascinating civilization and culture.

We understand that time away from home is hard-earned vacation time, hence we aim to maximize both the adventure and the learning opportunities for our tours. As well, there is time in every city for personal exploration and shopping.

Additionally, given the difficulties of language and culture (and hence navigating restaurants!), we are offering full halal breakfasts and dinners as a part of our package, with a variety of cuisines (Chinese, Arab, Indian, etc.)

Its historic and strategic importance is matched only by its architectural significance. After salat at Changping Mosque we will visit fresh water pearl and Summer Palace which was built in 1750, largely destroyed in the war of 1860 and restored on its original foundations in 1886. Summer Palace is a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. A “Hutong” is an ancient city alley or lane typically lined with Siheyuan (the traditional residential areas in Beijing, also known as Beijing Quadrangle). In fact, a Hutong is a passage formed between the walls of Siheyuan. A Siheyuan is a walled compound of small buildings surrounding a courtyard. Jul 05: Shaanxi History Museum, North Square of Big Wild Pagoda, Bell & Drum Tower Square, Great Mosque, Muslim Bazaar, Night Flight to Guilin

We will visit the Shaanxi History Museum and North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the morning. Designed in China’s grand and elegant ancient Tang Dynasty style, Shaanxi History Museum is a tribute to Shaanxi’s glamorous imperial past. Considered to be one of most exceptional museums in China, the exhibitions range from ancient bronze tools to Ming and Qing dynasty artifacts. The famous collections include Zhou Dynasty bronze wares, pottery figurines of Qin and Han Dynasties, Tang Dynasty tomb murals and Tang Dynasty gold and silver wares. The Tang Dynasty constructed Big Wild Goose Pagoda is located inside a Buddhist temple. The Pagoda was built in 652 by Monk Xuanzhuang who went to India looking for the truth of Buddhism and as a result, he brought back over 600 volumes of Buddhist scriptures from India and this pagoda was hence constructed to store those scriptures. In the afternoon we will visit the Bell & Drum Tower Square. From the square, we will walk to one of the oldest mosques in China, Xian Great Mosque. This Mosque was built in 742 and underwent several reconstructions in the following dynasties. The existing buildings of this Mosque were mainly built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), and expanded in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
