    Dr. Salah As-Sawy

    Dr. Salah as-Sawy (b. 1954, Fazarah, Egypt) is a senior scholar affiliated with the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America. As a youth in 1962 he won the Egyptian National Quran memorization contest. In 1976, he completed his Bachelor’s degree in the Faculty of Legislation and Law in al-Azhar University, going on to earn his Doctorate and an assistant professorship on the Faculty. From 1981 to 1986, he worked as an assistant professor at the prestigious Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca, and from 1985 to 1987, was Director for the Scientific Miracle Association for the Islamic World League. From 1987 to 1992, he directed the Legislative Research Center of the office of the Islamic World League in Islamabad, Pakistan.

    Dr. Siddiqi worked with many Islamic organizations in Switzerland, England and the United States. He was Chairman of the Religious Affairs Committee of the Muslim Students Association in US and Canada. Siddiqi also served as Director of the Islamic Center of Washington, D.C. He served two terms (1997-2001) as President of the Islamic Society of North America with Headquarters in Indiana. Since 1981, he is serving as the Director of the Islamic Society of Orange County in Garden Grove, California. He also served as the Chairman of the Shura Council of Southern California, an organization representing the Islamic centers, masajid and organizations in Southern California.

    He is the Chairman of the Fiqh (Islamic Law) Council of North America. He is a founding member of the Council of Mosques in US and Canada. Academically he is serving as an adjunct professor of Islamic Studies at Chapman University in Orange, California. He is also an external examiner for the Departments of Islamic Studies at the University of Durban-Westville in South Africa, University of Karachi, Pakistan and University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan.

    Internationally, He is a member of the Supreme Islamic Council of Egypt and the Supreme Council of Mosques in Mecca, Saudi Arabia and a member of the Executive Board of the International Assembly of the Council of Ulama’ in Mecca. He is a founding member of the Council of 100 of the World Economic Forum based in Switzerland. The Council aims to foster dialogue and better relations between Islam and the West. He conducted a weekly religious radio program from Pasadena from 1982 till 2004. He has contributed many articles to many Islamic and Academic Journals, Encyclopedias and other publications. He writes a weekly column for Pakistan Link in Los Angeles on the issues of Islamic law and social problems.

    Dr. Muhammad Salah is a PhD holder in Comparative Fiqh. He had his BA in Islamic Studies from Cloverdale College, Theological Foundation – Indiana, USA. He obtained his BA in Shari‘ah and Islamic Law from the University of Al-Azhar in Egypt and a BA in pharmacology. He was an assistant professor of pharmacology.

    He obtained a four-year diploma in Muslim arts and Arabic calligraphy. Dr. Muhammad Salah is working now as the “Religious Adviser” of Huda Satellite TV, one of the world leading Islamic Channels broadcasting exclusively in English since 2005. He is the presenter of “Ask Huda” , “Correct Your Recitation” and “Gardens of the Pious” programs, which were rated as the highest viewed programs to be broadcasted by Huda TV. Dr. Salah is one of the well-known Islamic scholars in USA. He led the Islamic Center of Victoria, Texas and founded two Islamic and Arabic schools, Namely Iman Stems and the Muslim Generation. He is a lecturer at Al-Azhar University, Islamic University of North America and London College online.

    Dr. Salah had enriched the Islamic video library by producing more than 1500 of live and recorded broadcasting hours in both English and Arabic languages.

    Sheikh Reda Bedeir, carries a life-time worth of achievements. From the land of Egypt, he was invited by the University of Calgary to teach Qur’anic Classical Arabic, and also served as an Imam for the Calgary Islamic Centre. He then moved to Burnaby, BC to serve as Imam the Muslim Chaplain at Simon Fraser University.

    Shaykh Reda holds two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Islamic Sciences with AlAzhar Univeristy, one Masters degree, and a Ph.D with AlAzhar University in Applied Linguistics and Tafsir of Surat Yusuf. He has learned under prominent shuyukh such as: Dr. Sayed Noah, Sh. Abdul-Rahman Abdul-Khaliq, Dr. Salah As-Sawy, Dr. Muhammad Yusri and Dr. Abdullah Barakat.

    Shaykh Reda has worked in numerous fields including as a UN Interpreter & Translator, and has authored many researches and papers. He currently serves as a sessional Instructor in the Interdisciplinay Studies Program of Religious Studies at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta.

    Dr. Abdulhakim Mohamed attended the Islamic University of Medina as well as Sana’a University with a Bachelors degree. Dr. Mohamed got his Masters and PH.D from the States. He has been involved in the Dawa’a around the world. He has held many positions and partnered to establishing numerous organizations amongst them North American Imams Federation which he was nominated the first President. Dr. Mohamed is a member of the Higher Scholars Committee in Yemen as he is a member of American Jurist Muslim Assembly. He is the CEO of MuslimNama. He has been an Imam for more than 25 years. Dr. Mohamed has been on various local and International TV and radio channels amongst them Al-Huda, Guide TV and many more.     Dr. Hamid Slimi is a Canadian Imam and Scholar, a Community developer and a religious leader of Islam in Canada. He has been serving as an Imam, Chaplain, Lecturer, Counselor and Educator in different mosques and Islamic centers and Educational Institutions in Canada for over 13 years.

    He is currently the Chairman of the Canadian Council of Imams, member of the Fiqh Council and several Federal and Provincial Multi-Faith councils. He is also the founder and executive director of the Faith of Life Network, the Imam and resident scholar of Sayeda Khadija Centre in the Greater Toronto Area, lecturer at the Islamic Institute of Toronto and also a host and producer of Faith of Life TV shows and documentaries as well as the publisher of Faith of Life Magazine.     Sheikh Abdool Hamid graduated from the Islamic University of Madina Munawwarah; and specialized in Hadith Studies. He is currently a resident scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto where he has taught several courses in Arabic Language, Hadith and Seerah. He serves as an Islamic Counsellor with the Islamic Social Services and Resource Association (Toronto) and is a regular khateeb and lecturer at several prominent mosques in and around Toronto.

    Dr. Yasir Qadhi was born in Houston, Texas and completed his primary and secondary education in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the Islamic University of Madinah.

    After completing a diploma in Arabic, he graduated with a B.A. from the College of Hadith and Islamic Sciences. Thereafter, he completed a M.A. in Islamic Theology from the College of Dawah, after which he returned to America and completed his doctorate, in Religious Studies, from Yale University. Currently he is teaching at Rhodes College, in Memphis, TN.

    Mohammed Faqih completed a B.A. in Islamic Studies from the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in America in Fairfax, VA, and graduated in Quran Memorization and Recitation from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Previously, he has held the positions of Imam [spiritual leader and advisor] at the Islamic Community Center of Laurel in Laurel, MD and at the Islamic Center of San Diego in San Diego, CA. He has also acted as an assistant Imam at the Islamic Association of Raleigh, NC and as a teacher at the Al-Iman School in the same community

    Currently, Mohammed Faqih resides with his family in Orange County and is an instructor with AlMaghrib Institute, an organization that provides trademark double-weekend seminars leading students towards a bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies. His most recent course of instruction includes The Rules of Engagement; Islamic Code of Ethics, and Route 114, Sciences of the Qur’an.

    Imam Hamad Ahmad Chebli is the “Imam,” or the religious leader, of the Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ). Imam Chebli grew up in Lebanon, and attended one of the most the prestigious Islamic institutions in the world, Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt. Imam Chebli received his Masters in Islamic Canonical Law from Al-Azhar University. As a member of the North and South Brunswick Diversity Committee and the South Brunswick Clergy Association Imam Chebli is a regular visitor to the local churches, synagogues, public schools and town hall meetings, promoting unity through diversity.

    In recognition of his contribution to interfaith dialogue and diversity throughout New Jersey, the Governor of New Jersey appointed Imam Chebli to the Governor’s Leadership Summit on Diversity. Imam Chebli has given numerous interviews to the press, has appeared on radio talk shows and on television programs, explaining Islam to Americans. He has also contributed several articles to the local newspapers. Imam Chebli is a much sought after “personality” by the local residents and the media, and is a tower of strength to the Islamic community in central New Jersey and beyond.

    Shaykh Mohamed Almasmari, of Yemeni descent, was born and raised in Michigan. At a very young age, he memorized the Holy Qur’an and began leading taraweeh prayers during the month of Ramadan. Soon after completing his secondary education, he embarked on a journey to Yemen to study traditional Islam under some of the worlds greatest scholars of this time. During his studies, he was also blessed to memorize Saheeh Muslim as well.

    While in Yemen, he was granted many Ijaazaats by his teachers in many areas of Islam, such as: Fiqh-Islamic Jurisprudence, Tafseer-ul-Qur’an, Ijaazaats focusing on Shaykh-ul-Islam Imam Al-Shawkaani’s many works, Saheeh-ul-Bukhari & Muslim, recitation, memorization & teaching of Qur’an, many of Imam Nawawi’s works, and other famous works of Islam not listed. Shaykh Almasmari earned his Bachelor & Master Degrees in Islamic Sciences & Islamic Law.

    After completing his studies, the Shaykh returned to America and served as Imam in Oakland, CA and Brooklyn, NY where he captured the hearts of thousands of Muslims through his captivating lectures and khutbahs and his beautiful recitation of the Holy Qur’an. Currently, he resides in Michigan and serves as the Imam of the Muslim Unity Center in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He also serves as a member on the Fiqh Council of Michigan, Michigan Muslim Community Council and the Council of Islamic Organizations of Michigan. He is married and has three children and loves working with the youth and counseling Muslim families on social issues.

    Mufti Minhajuddin Ahmed serves as the director of DarusSalam Foundation. He was blessed with the memorization of the Holy Qur’an by age 10 and later received formal authorizations in the sacred Islamic sciences at the culmination of an eight-yearalimandiftaprogram at Darul Uloom Zakariyya in Johannesburg, South Africa. He also received authorizations in various recitations (TenQira’at) of the Holy Qur’an from theQiraatMaster, Qari Ayub bin Ibrahim Ishaaq.

    He studiedhadithandiftaunder one of the greatest scholars of our time, Mufti Rada-ul-Haq. He served as the imam and director of the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri from 2006 to 2011.

    Mufti Minhajuddin handles many of the day-to-day functions of the masjid, such as delivering khutbahs, leading prayers, conducting educational programs, etc. He teaches introductory Arabic, tajweed (Quranic pronunciation), aqeedah (Islamic beliefs), seerah (the prophetic biography), and intermediate usool al-fiqh (principles of Islamic Law).

    Abdul Nasir Jangda is the founder and director of Qalam Institute.  He was born and raised in the Dallas area. At the age of 10 he went to Karachi, Pakistan to memorize the Quran. He excelled in his memorization and committed the entire Quran to memory in less than 1 year. He then returned home and continued his school education. After graduating from High School, he went back to Karachi to study the Alim Course at Jamia Binoria. He graduated from the rigorous 7 year program in 2002 at the top of his class and with numerous Ijaazaat (Licenses) in various Islamic Sciences. Along with the Alim Course he concurrently completed a B.A. and M.A. in Arabic from Karachi University. He also obtained a Masters in Islamic Studies from the University of Sindh.  He taught Arabic at the University of Texas at Arlington from 2005 to 2007. He has served as an instructor and curriculum advisor to various Islamic schools and Islamic studies programs. He served as the Imam at the Colleyville Masjid in the Dallas area for 3 years. He is a founding member and chairman of Mansfield Islamic Center. Abdul Nasir is an instructor with Bayyinah Institute, where his class “Meaningful Prayer” has traveled the country.

    His latest projects include Quran Intensive (a summer program focusing on Arabic grammar and Tafsir), Quranic analysis lectures, Khateeb Training, chronicling of the Prophetic Biography at www.qalaminstitute.org, and personally mentoring and teaching his students at the Qalam Seminary.

    Sheikh Jamel Ben Ameur is the Imam and Khatib of Al-Amaan Center for worship and Education in the Twin Cities area. He is also a lecturer at the Islamic University of MN and member of the Islamic Jurisprudence Council of MN.

    As an Imam and religious leader, he has worked in community development for more than a decade. In this role, he has developed programs for youth and adults, implementing an Islamic dynamic vision, combining spirit, mind, and action within the challenges of the world of today.

    He pursued a traditional Islamic education, and studied Islamic law and Quran sciences for several years at the hand of scholars in his country and in the U.S. He is licensed in various fields of Islamic studies.

    He holds the Ijaza of Quran in different Qiraat as well as a Doctorate in Islamic studies (PhD). His thesis work has focused on an analytic study on the moral conduct and behavior with the Divine, extracted from the beginning of Surat Al Hujurat.

    Furthermore, he previously obtained an MS in Business Management from Sorbonne University, in Paris, France and diplomas of advanced graduate studies in international trade law and economics from University of Tunis.

    His interests include the practice of traditional Karate and kendo, the art of Japanese sword-fencing.

    Dr. Hanaa Gamal is a teacher of Tafsir and Quranic Sciences who completed her undergraduate studies from AlAzhar University in Cairo as salutatorian of her class. She earned her Master’s degree from the American Open University in Islamic Sciences, and is currently in her final stages of obtaining her Doctorate degree from the Islamic University of North America.

    She is the founder and an instructor of the Quran Quest Institute in Houston, Texas, which specializes in teaching Tafsir and Quranic sciences and tajweed, as well as provides various Hifz programs for women.

    Mufti Hussain Kamani was born and raised in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. His journey to pursue sacred Islamic knowledge began at age six. By the age of 9, he was able to complete memorization of the Holy Quran. To further advance his study of Islamic Sciences, he later traveled to the United Kingdom and pursued formal Islamic authorizations (ijazahs). For 7 years, Mufti Kamani studied a rigorous curriculum covering the Arabic language and literature, Islamic jurisprudence, Tafseer of the Holy Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic Philosophy, and Aqeedah. Afterwards, he was selected for a post-graduate level course in Islamic Law and Legal Verdicts, which he completed within two years. He later earned his graduate degree in Business Management from the University of Coventry in the UK. Mufti Kamani currently resides in Chicago, IL with his family, where he has served as an Imam for 6 years. He also serves as an instructor for the Qalam Institute, where his class “Prophetic Code” has been studied by thousands. By the grace of Allah, he is the co-founder of KamaniOnline.com, a internationally recognized clothing brand for men’s designer wear. During his pastime he also enjoyed jujitsu.

    Imam Khalid Latif was appointed the first Muslim chaplain at NYU in 2005 where he began to initiate his vision for a pluralistic future on and off campus for American Muslims. He was also appointed the first Muslim chaplain at Princeton University in 2006. Spending a year commuting between these two excellent institutions, he finally decided to commit full-time to New York University’s Islamic Center where his position was officially institutionalized in the spring of 2007. Under his leadership, the Islamic Center at NYU became the first ever established Muslim student center at an institution of higher education in the United States. Imam Latif’s exceptional dedication and ability to cross interfaith and cultural lines on a daily basis brought him recognition throughout the city, so much so that in 2007 Mayor Michael Bloomberg nominated Imam Latif to become the youngest chaplain in history of the New York City Police Department at the age of 24.

    Ustadh AbdelRahman Murphy is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a Bachelor’s in Teaching of English and Religious Studies. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. He has served as a youth director, Muslim chaplain, and assistant imam in a full-time capacity since 2009.

    His Islamic studies background includes completing an Imam Certificate Program in Makkah, Saudi Arabia under the mentorship and training of Shaykh Khalid Hilwany. While growing up in the Chicagoland area, he spent two years studying at Riyadh As Saliheen Institute under Shaykhs Ehab Ash-Shaer and Abu Abdullah. While finishing his university studies, he benefitted directly from the training and teaching of Professor Omer Mozaffar in areas of Quran and texts of Imam Ghazali. After graduating with his BA, Ustadh AbdelRahman moved to Dallas, where he began reading classical texts with Shaykh AbdulNasir Jangda. In May of 2014, he formally graduated from the Qalam Seminary’s one-year program.

    Currently, he is continuing his study of the Quran and Imam Ghazali’s text with Professor Omer Mozaffar, and is working to complete his coursework of the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum directly with Shaykh AbdulNasir Jangda.
